Winter Hill Series Races 6 & 7: Cwm Nant y Groes and Hatterall Flow Test

No races this weekend so we'll look back the races over the previous two weekends, firstly at Cwm Nant y Groes and then Hatterall Flow Test.

Wyndham Turner (Mynydd Du) ticked off another two race wins in the series and improved his overall score slightly with his 2 minute victory over Jon Like (Parc Bryn Bach) at Hatterall. Jon Ford (Mynydd Du) finished 2nd at Nant y Groes and 3rd at Hatterall which catapulted him up to 2nd in the series, 30 points behind Wyndham but 30 points ahead of Andrew May (Brecon AC) who now sits in 3rd. Barring disaster Wyndham and Jon will be very hard to beat, but the race for 3rd is wide open. Tom Turner (Mynydd Du) and James Blore (Chepstow) are both entered in the final race of the season and have the potential to improve their scores to sneak into 3rd.

Katie Ironside (MDC) had a rare off day at Nant y Groes but normal service was resumed with her close win over Rosie Wright (Swansea Harriers) at Hatterall. Briony Latter (MDC) took 3rd and 4th which has pushed her ahead of Emma McWilliams (Mynydd Du). Mynydd Du have the M/Open category wrapped up, but the F category belongs to MDC this year!

In the age categories, Andrew May took over the V40 lead joining Emma McWilliams who solidified her position. We're set for a great battle in the final race for F40 category, Emma races Debbie Stenner (Mynydd Du) and Donna Grant (MDC) with all of them capable of taking the F40 series win.

In the V50s, Matthew and Vanessa Lawson (both Chepstow) strengthened their positions at the top. With Rueben Lawson (Chepstow) also sitting in 2nd in the U23 they really are the first family of South Wales fell running!

No changes at the top of the other age categories with all of the leaders strengthening their positions ahead of the final race, Pen Tir Drop next weekend.
