Route descriptions - see map below
All begin with a short flat start before heading DOWN (unusual!) into the beautiful valley.
The U7s will complete a simple loop back to the start/finish. The remaining runners with carry on their descent into charming and ancient woodland on established and undulating paths before the U9s and U11s begin their ascent by turning left, again completing a loop back to the start/finish. The older runners turn right after the woodland to cross a very small stream (a leap is all that is required) and a steepish ascent.
After a “sportif" climb, the course splits into 3:
1) the U13s turn left to traverse the side of the hill and join the shoulder back to the start / finish. 2) The U15s continue their ascent before descending on a broad path down to the shoulder and back to the start/finish.
3) The U17s and U19s turn right on an undulating track before a sharp left turn that gradually climbs to the summit in a corkscrew, before descending to the shoulder and a dash to the start/finish.
There will be marshals at key points, arrows at all key turning points and flag markers along the route. However, all runners and parents should familiarise themselves with their route. Marshals are there primarily for safety and fair competition, not to show you the way.
